Tim Steel is an internationally-recognised, award-winning stone artist based in Waipawa, New Zealand.
He was raised in the coastal town of Pukerua Bay and is of Pākehā, Kāi Tahu and Kāti Mamoe descent. In his early years he developed an affinity and fascination with stones and has long been a collector of pieces that have caught his eye.
Influenced by a keen interest in taonga/artefacts, the natural and urban aesthetics of Aotearoa, and the modern and ancient worlds, Tim’s unique style combines traditional and contemporary design interpretations.
