A piece by Artist Lane Hawkins, a Nelson based contemporary weaver. His current work reflects the Māori practice of tukutuku weaving to produce both contemporary and traditional designs. Lane harvests locally using Kiekie (Freycinetia banksia) and Pīngao - Golden sand sedge (Ficinia). To create his patterns, these plants are used naturally or dyed.
