Enigma Floor Talk

Enigma Floor Talk

Regular price $0.00 Sale

Sue Heydon’s latest art installation ‘Enigma’ – currently on display in the Museum’s Upper Gallery – poses a new question about what many regard as one of the most damaging decisions ever made for New Zealand’s native flora and fauna: the introduction of old man’s beard (Clematis vitalba).

In this floor talk Sue discusses the motivation behind this introduction and the conflicting perspectives on the plant as both a noxious weed and a useful fibre. She will also touch on her methods of weaving to form the giant ‘seed forms’ which dominate the exhibition space, making this an event well suited for local history enthusiasts, naturists and makers alike.
