Peter is NZ born of European-Maori-Pitcairn Island descent. Bone carving is a traditional NZ Maori craft and it is on this culture that his contemporary designs are based. Fishing is an important part of Maori culture, and this is reflected in his carvings depicting dolphins, whales tails and fishhooks. Another key element in many designs is the Koru, which is designed from the new fern frond as it opens. His carvings are made from beef (bovine) bone and whale bone and have been featured in Galleries, Museums and quality Souvenir outlets throughout New Zealand for 22 years. He has also had his work exhibited in the UK where he exhibited in National Trust Galleries.
